This little bowl is a special edition of the Anima, tableware made from food waste* and Japanese lacquer. By bringing food waste back on the table in the form of tableware, this project aims to provide viewers or users an opportunity to reflect issues around food and also their eating habits. The Anima tableware is made for rethinking our relationship with nature. Each piece is handcrafted by myself and unique. Under a strong light like sunlight its colour appears brighter (except Black).
*Any moldy or rotten materials are not used.
This project has been appreciated and exhibited internationally, and its early works have been selected for the public collections of museums: V&A, MoMA and CID Grand Hornu.
25% of the sales from these limited edition will be donated to organisations which support the people suffering for natural disasters or war.
The proceeds from the Hawaii edition are to be utilised for those who were affected by the wildfire happened in Maui in August, 2023.
